New Martin Marietta employee resource groups encourages ‘open and honest’ dialogue on matters women face in the workplace

Martin Marietta has launched Women Who Build (WWB), an employee resource group dedicated to cultivating relationships, inspiring career paths and raising awareness about the unique challenges and opportunities facing women in the workplace.

In a continuing effort to strengthen its ONE culture, Martin Marietta has launched Women Who Build (WWB), an employee resource group dedicated to cultivating relationships, inspiring career paths and raising awareness about the unique challenges and opportunities facing women in the workplace.

Debuting on March 8 in celebration and recognition of International Women’s Day and Women’s History Month, WWB has held meetings across all operating divisions since the spring.

Led by two executive sponsors and six co-sponsors who were nominated by company leadership, the group is open to all employees.

While introducing the new employee resource group (ERG), the co-leaders of WWB shared their thoughts on a number of topics from career objectives to personal inspiration.

Throughout March, their comments were displayed across Martin Marietta in order to drive engagement with WWB.

“Women Who Build is an employee-led group, which means its impact on our people and our communities will ultimately be determined by our members,” said Southwest Division Vice President of Human Resources Jill Reeder, a WWB executive sponsor. “With this in mind, we want this group to appeal to as many people as possible.

“Our WWB leadership team is comprised of women from across Martin Marietta who have shared their genuine experiences in the hopes that others will do the same. We want this group to matter and be sustainable, so we will be thoughtful and methodical on how we build WWB. Members have expressed three key areas on which they would like the group to focus: education, mentorship, and recruitment.”

WWB’s Goals:
• Recognizing and celebrating the contributions of women to Martin Marietta and the industry
• Attracting, developing and retaining talented and hard-working women, providing each with the opportunity to enjoy a long and successful career at Martin Marietta
• Providing a forum for employees to discuss career interests and mentorship opportunities while strengthening their confidence and overall well-being
