In support of the United States Armed Forces and the Memorial Day holiday, Arizona District team members held a somber and powerful event honoring those who lost their lives while serving the country.

During the May holiday, crew members placed flags at the National Memorial Cemetery of Arizona. The event was a collaborative effort between local community members and businesses to honor more than 95,000 fallen soldiers and their families laid to rest at the site.

“It’s a way of saying thank you for all they have done and the sacrifices they have made for our great nation,” said Plant Manager Cecil Blain.

Several volunteers and their families participated in the occasion, making it an effective and impressive act of gratitude.

“We had a wonderful team of Martin Marietta employees and their families volunteer,” said Monica Payseno, an office administrator. “We all worked together as a team to drill holes and place flags, and we finished an hour earlier than anticipated due to the amazing volunteer turnout this year.”
