Plant Manager Mike Goodman wins major environmental award
The ARPA has named Martin Marietta leader as its 2025 Environmental Leader of the Year
The Arizona Rock Products Association (ARPA) has named Yavapai Prescott Aggregates Plant Manager Mike Goodman as its 2025 Environmental Leader of the Year.
ARPA, the oldest mining association in Arizona, has represented companies producing nearly all aggregate material in the state for more than 65 years. The Environmental Leadership Award Program recognizes professionals who go above and beyond to improve public perception of local aggregate operations and the wider mining industry.
“It feels good to be recognized. I’m not out to win awards. What I do around here, I consider to be part of the job,” Goodman said.
“The mentor I learned from set high standards for keeping operations clean, and over the years my crew and I have worked to maintain those standards. Keeping a clean operation supports many of our core values, and our environmental team has been great to work with.”
Established in 2011, the award has never been presented to an operations manager until this year, with Goodman’s recognition. His colleagues said the honor is well deserved.
“Mike sets the standard for environmental stewardship through outstanding community outreach, local government engagement, effective education efforts and strong commitment to safety and sustainability,” said Senior Environmental Engineer Shauna Haranczak.
“From generous service projects to maintaining a top-tier facility, Mike proves every day that good environmental practices and being a great neighbor go hand-in-hand.”
Manager of Environmental Services Erin Kunkel echoed Haranczak’s sentiments, adding that she was “thrilled” for Goodman.
“Mike and his team set the standard for maintaining a clean, well-kept workplace,” she said.
“Mike and his team work together to set an excellent example that truly demonstrates what it means to be good neighbors in the community. He continually works with our Environmental team to ensure everyone under his leadership goes above and beyond the regulatory standards. Plant managers like Mike make our jobs easier and far more enjoyable.”
